With rosters in the building stage for the 2017 season, NASL coaches and executives will head to the National Premier Soccer League (NPSL) Player Showcase in search of talent.

The combine acts as a perfect place to scout players in one location that could potentially have an impact on the upcoming season, noted Puerto Rico FC President Tom Payne, who will be in attendance.

"The NPSL combine, as other events like this, gives us the unique chance to evaluate a great number of players in a single venue that have played in a highly competitive league and a professional environment,” Payne said. “We want to see players that are ready to contribute and that our coaches can take to the next level while maximizing their talents."

While nothing is guranteed in terms of signings from the combine for any club, it's a good tool to use while looking to put together the best roster possible.

“It’s my job to go to these types of combines and scout athletes from across the country,” Miami FC Technical Director Mauro Pederzoli said. “It never hurts to go and watch these players. In the end, we want the best team in Miami and that’s what I’m here to help do.”

Payne added: "Our goal this year is to compete for a championship and we hope to find players that are willing to work hard and earn their spot on our squad."

The NPSL combine will get underway on Saturday, Jan. 7 and continue through Monday, Jan. 9 at the StubHub Center Track and Field Complex in Carson, Calif.
