The NASL is home to players from more than 30 countries, and the sports they played, other than soccer, growing up is as varied as their backgrounds.

Mauro Eustaquio (Ottawa Fury FC): I tried basketball. I won a free-throw contest and quit like a champ.

Tyler Gibson (Rayo OKC): Baseball and basketball.

Duke Lacroix (Indy Eleven): Ice hockey, track and field, tennis, squash, baseball and basketball.

Nik Ledgerwood (FC Edmonton): Golf, volleyball, track and field.

Tiyi Shipalane (Carolina RailHawks): Cricket.

Pascal Millien (Jacksonville Armada FC): American football.

Mason Trafford (Miami FC): Squash, golf, tennis, skiing, and snowboarding.

Victor Pineda (Fort Lauderdale Strikers): Karate.

Andrés Flores (New York Cosmos): Basketball, tennis, bowling.

Brent Kallman (Minnesota United): Basketball, American football, ice hockey, baseball, and wrestling.
