The Jacksonville Armada FC announced today it has added Houston Dynamo midfielder Zach Steinberger to its first team on loan through the end of the North American Soccer League Fall Season. Per club policy, details of the agreement were not disclosed.
Armada FC head coach and technical director Tony Meola expects Steinberger to have an immediate positive impact.
“Zach is a young player who is pretty highly touted,” Meola said. “We expect him to be a strong addition to our attack.”
Steinberger, 24, was taken No. 8 overall in the 2015 MLS SuperDraft after a standout collegiate career for Butler University in Indianapolis.
The San Diego, Calif., native has played in three career games for Houston and made 12 appearances, including 11 starts, on loan for Indy Eleven in 2015. He scored two goals for Indy, both coming against the Armada FC on Sept. 5, 2015, in the Eleven’s 3-0 win.
An all-conference performer at Butler in three different leagues from 2012-14, Steinberger also played three seasons for PDL side Michigan Bucks in the summer during that time, scoring 21 goals in 41 appearances.
