The Jacksonville Armada FC announced on Friday it has added New York Red Bulls defender Karl Ouimette (pronounced WE-met) on loan through the end of the North American Soccer League Fall Season. Per club policy, details of the agreement were not disclosed.

The addition is expected to further strengthen the Armada roster as it pushes for a spot in the four-team NASL Championship.

“Karl adds some experience to our back four as we continue to strengthen our roster for the Fall Season,” said Tony Meola, Armada FC head coach and technical director. “We are excited to see him improve during his time here in Jacksonville as we strive to try and jump up the NASL standings.”

Ouimette, 24, hails from Repentigny, Québec, and has recorded 16 caps for the Canadian national team since making his senior team debut in 2013 after working his way up through the youth ranks.

Since signing with MLS’ Red Bulls in 2015, Ouimette has played 18 games, including 13 starts, and logged 1,293 minutes of action. He also made seven appearances over 2015 and 2016 for New York’s USL reserve squad, Red Bulls II, and scored two goals in the 2015 USL Playoffs.

Prior to New York, he spent three seasons with MLS’ Montreal Impact, seeing action in 20 contests and earning the starting nod in 15. He scored his lone career goal in 2013 against Philadelphia Union, a game-winner in a 2-1 victory.

Ouimette, who joined the squad for its training session on Tuesday and played right back, made his professional debut with the Montreal first team in 2012 after playing two season with the Impact’s U-21 squad.
