The NASL Board of Governors has elected Jacksonville Armada FC owner Mark Frisch as its chairman, the league announced Monday.

Frisch was elected to the position at the league’s Board of Governors meeting this week, and will assume the role effective immediately.

“Mark has established himself as a leader among our owners, and they recognized that by electing him as chairman,” NASL Commissioner Bill Peterson said. “Mark has a clear vision for the future of this league, and his guidance and input will be an important component for our continued growth.”

As the founder and CEO of Sunshine Soccer Group, Frisch announced that he would spearhead the efforts to bring professional soccer back to Jacksonville in 2013. Now in its first NASL season, Jacksonville Armada FC boasts one of the league’s highest attendance averages.

“I’m thrilled and honored to have this opportunity,” Frisch said. “As we look to build on a great foundation and continue to grow this league, it’s a great time to be in this position. I look forward to working closely with Commissioner Peterson to help accomplish all of his goals and the goals of all of our owners.

Frisch is the executive vice president of Beaver Street Fisheries, a leading importer, manufacturer, and distributor of quality frozen seafood products from the USA and around the world. He is also the chairman of JAXUSA Partnership, the regional economic development organization of JAX Chamber.
