The NASL's Fort Lauderdale Strikers have announced the signing of 30 year-old Honduran midfielder Walter Ramirez for the 2014 campaign.

“Ramirez will be a great addition to the team,” said Strikers head coach Günter Kronsteiner. “He’s one of the most accurate and dangerous players with the cross. We hope he will give us more opportunities with his runs on the left wing.”

Ramirez, a 5’9” native of La Ceiba, Honduras, recently played with Indy Eleven before being released.  Prior to his stint with Indy, Ramirez made 51 appearances (44 starts) with San Antonio Scorpions and earned a spot on the 2012 NASL Best XI team.

Ramirez is familiar to the club, having played with Miami FC since the team's inception in 2006 until 2009. He was discovered at the Copa Latina tournament in South Florida.

Ramirez will be available for selection in this Saturday's Florida Derby clash with rivals Tampa Bay Rowdies. He will wear the number 73 jersey, and is the first Strikers player to do so.
