The NASL's Minnesota United FC has partnered with local non-profit Kids In Need to host a back to school supply drive Saturday, August 17, 5:30 PM at the National Sports Center Stadium in Blaine, Minn. to be followed at 7:00 PM CT when United meets the Tampa Bay Rowdies.
“Community involvement continues to be an important focus in our organization and we are excited to host a school supply drive at our game on Saturday,” said United President Nick Rogers. “Kids In Need provides supplies to countless underprivileged kids nationwide and in our community and we hope this drive will help get kids started on the right foot this school year.”
“We welcome all donations of school supplies and commend Minnesota United FC for helping kids in this way,” said Dave Smith, executive director of the Kids In Need Foundation. “A drive like this also increases awareness. Most people don’t think too much about how important school supplies are. Without them, boys and girls cannot do their work at school. They can’t achieve. They can’t fully experience learning. School supplies are vital tools for success in the classroom.”
Fans may drop off school supplies outside the Main Gate at the National Sports Center Stadium beginning when gates open at 5:30 PM, donations will be accepted through the end of the game. Donations for all school supplies are welcome, although Kids In Need encourages donations for crayons, glue sticks, markers, paper, pencils and pens. For questions regarding donations, fans can call (763) 331-8777 , or email info@MNUnitedFC.com.
The Kids In Need Foundation is a national non-profit, founded in 1995, that is committed to ensure every child is prepared to learn and succeed by providing free school supplies nationally to students most in need. The local Twin Cities Kids In Need Resource Center provides more than 37,000 students and 3,000 teachers in over 100 schools in the metro area free school supplies during the school year.
