Rowdies Visited by NASL Commissioner Bill Peterson
Posted on Mon, Mar 18, 2013

After spending last week visiting several of the NASL teams, Commissioner Bill Peterson started this week by visiting Tampa Bay. The Rowdies players and front office warmly welcomed the NASL Commissioner on Monday afternoon, where they had the opportunity to talk about the upcoming 2013 season.

“It’s an opportunity to introduce myself to the players and the staff, as well as to share the league’s vision for the upcoming season,” commented Commissioner Peterson. “The on-field performance has been at a high level since the start of the NASL in 2011 and those will be the expectations from the league as we move forward. The players have a huge influence on the growth of this league and I want to make sure they are aware of the role they play.”

Commissioner Peterson visited Tampa Bay after recently stopping by Edmonton and San Antonio last week. The Rowdies organization has grown consistently over the past three years and the club has evolved into a premiere franchise in the North American Soccer League. The reigning NASL Champions know that both the league and the fans have high expectations for the 2013 season and they are ready to demonstrate why they deserve another NASL Soccer Bowl this season.

“The Rowdies organization has received the NASL Fair Play Award for two consecutive seasons, which demonstrates that they are doing things well in Tampa Bay,” stated Commissioner Peterson. “There is a good core group of people at the Rowdies who are focused on helping both the team and the league grow. I’ve had the chance to attend a Rowdies match last year and the fans help make the atmosphere very exciting.”

The Rowdies continue their 2013 Preseason Tour, as they will square off against the University of Tampa on Tuesday, March 19th at 7:30 p.m. The match will be played at Pepin Stadium, located on University Of Tampa's campus (401 West Kennedy Blvd., Tampa, FL 33606). Admission will be free.
