Well, it is now close to the end of 2012 and, on a personal note, a very successful one for me.  My first full year as a Head Coach of the Puerto Rico Islanders and an absolute honor to lead from the front.   In some ways successful, others, possibly not.

I am sure you have all seen the news that we will not be participating in the first phase of the upcoming 2013 NASL season but will be in the 2nd phase. It is important that nobody jumps to any conclusions as to why, but understands it is to the benefit of the football club and everybody connected to it can work to make 2013 a success in reorganizing and restructuring the football club on and off the field.

I am close to returning to Puerto Rico and leaving my family this time next week. I come back via Tampa, where I will be doing 3 days of work there on a combine, looking at players and making even more contacts to the benefit of the Islanders.   Upon my return, I will get together with the Owners/Staff and start talking about our plans as we move forward.

I have taken in a lot of knowledge from club visits here in the UK, not just watching football but speaking to all levels of football related people to keep learning as I keep progressing in my career and not only can this help me, but believe it will continue to benefit the Islanders.

It its always tough to say goodbye and I am sure I will be leaving with a box of tissues as I say my goodbyes.   I love my family dearly and will miss them loads, as usual, but I have a job to do and am fully committed, not just to the team, but to the island too.

All that is left to do is wish you all a VERY VERY HAPPY NEW YEAR and BUENA SUERTE PARA 2013!!
