Guyana
Nick Millington (Carolina RailHawks); Chris Nurse, Gregory Richardson (Puerto Rico Islanders); Carl Cort, JP Rodrigues (Tampa Bay Rowdies)
The Guyana national team bowed out of the 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifiers with a pair of heavy defeats to CONCACAF powerhouses Mexico and Costa Rica. The losses confined Guyana to a last-place finish in Group B with just a single point from six qualifiers.
Guyana resumed qualifiers on October 12 against Mexico at the BBVA Compass Stadium in Houston, Texas. The Golden Jaguars kept Mexico scoreless for 78 minutes before the floodgates opened, eventually losing by five goals to nil. Carolina RailHawks first-year professional Nick Millington started and played 73 minutes, while Islanders duo Chris Nurse and Gregory Richardson both went the full 90.
Against Costa Rica in the final match Guyana didn’t fare any better; the side was comprehensively beaten 7-0. Millington and Richardson started and played the entire match.
Tampa Bay Rowdies pair JP Rodrigues and Carl Cort did not participate in the qualifiers.
