Practice Update: Tuesday, October 2
Posted on Tue, Oct 2, 2012

The Rowdies returned to practice Tuesday morning with a two-hour training session at Shimberg Fields, preparing for the first leg of the semifinal matchup on October 6th at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, NC against the RailHawks at 7:00 p.m. ET.

Carolina’s 3-1 defeated the Ft. Lauderdale at WakeMed Soccer Park on Saturday and Puerto Rico lost on Sunday against Minnesota, meaning the Rowdies’ opponent for the NASL Semifinals will be the fourth-seeded Carolina RailHawks.

“Carolina is coming off a great result against the Strikers,” said head coach Ricky Hill. “We know it will be a tight semifinal, so this week we will focus on working hard in training. We played a full-scale match today, looking at different variations of the formation of the team, adding some tactical work alongside that.”

Hill commented on the importance of getting a good result in the first leg at Carolina.

“We haven’t managed to beat Carolina this season, but then again they haven’t beaten us either,” said Hill. “I will send the squad out on Saturday with a winning mentality, as I believe it is impossible to go out and play for a draw. We want to get a good result in Carolina, and come to Al Lang Stadium in control of the series.”

The Rowdies will play the first leg of the NASL Semifinals on October 6, in Cary, NC against the RailHawks at 7:00 p.m. ET. You can catch the match live on RowdiesSoccer.com or you can click here.

The Rowdies will then host the second leg of the NASL Semifinal on Saturday, October 13 at Al Lang Stadium at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are available starting at $12. For more information and for discounted tickets, call our front office at 813.287.1539 or log on to RowdiesSoccer.com!
