Tampa Bay is coming off a resounding 3-0 victory in Edmonton. With the victory the Rowdies moved to within three points of the overall NASL lead. The Rowdies can clinch a bye to the semifinals with a win or tie in this game. However, the Rowdies will need to win this game to keep pressure on San Antonio for the NASL Regular Season Championship.

Tampa Bay goalkeeper Jeff Attinella is tied for the league lead with 108 saves. The Rowdies have scored 36 goals this season, fourth most in the NASL. Tampa Bay has given up 29 goals, tied for second-fewest in the NASL.

Carolina did the Rowdies a favor with a 2-1 victory in San Antonio on Sunday. If the RailHawks win their two remaining games, both versus Tampa Bay they will finish 2nd and earn a bye to the semifinal round of the NASL Playoffs. Ty Shipalane was named NASL Offensive Player of the Week for scoring the game winning goal against San Antonio and contributing an assist in a midweek clash with Edmonton.

Carolina forward Nick Zimmerman is second in the league with 15 goals for the season. RailHawks Midfielder Mike Palacio is tied for third in league with six assists on the season. Carolina has scored 43 goals this season, second-most in the league behind San Antonio. The RailHawks have allowed 45 goals, which are the most goals given up by any team in the NASL.
