Match Preview: Silverbacks vs Scorpions
Atlanta Hosts San Antonio on Wednesday
Posted on Tue, Sep 18, 2012

The Scorpions clinched a bye into the Semifinals with a road victory on September 8th in Cary, N.C. against the RailHawks. The Scorpions lost at home to the RailHawks this past Sunday 2-1 on a Ty Shipalane second half goal. San Antonio can become the NASL Regular Season Champions with a win Wednesday against the Silverbacks coupled with a Tampa Bay Rowdies tie or loss to Carolina. A tie could also be enough for San Antonio, provided Carolina defeats the Rowdies.

Atlanta is coming off a 1-0 win over Fort Lauderdale on Saturday. The victory allowed the Silverbacks to climb off the bottom of the NASL table. Against the Strikers, forward Matt Horth scored his fifth goal in the past four games and the Silverbacks defense only conceded one shot on target. Atlanta has lost just once in the past seven matches.

The Silverbacks have failed to score in three meetings versus the Scopions this season.
