Below is a team by team breakdown of the playoff race as of September 13th. The top six teams qualify for the NASL playoffs which begin the weekend of September 28-30. The top two teams receive quarterfinal round byes directly into the semifinal series.
San Antonio
The Scorpions clinched a bye into the Semifinals with a road victory this past Saturday against the Carolina RailHawks. San Antonio can become NASL Regular Season Champions with a home victory against Carolina, and a Tampa Bay Rowdies tie or loss to FC Edmonton. A tie could also be enough for San Antonio, provided Edmonton defeats the Rowdies.
Remaining matches: 9/16 Carolina (H), 9/19 Atlanta (A), 9/23 Minnesota (H)
Tampa Bay
The Rowdies do not have an opportunity to clinch a bye this coming weekend against FC Edmonton. Tampa Bay can finish anywhere between 1st and 6th, however, a tie or loss to Edmonton could mean that San Antonio becomes NASL Regular Season Champions.

Puerto Rico
The Islanders cannot clinch a bye this coming weekend against Minnesota. A loss could drop the Islanders down three places to sixth place in the standings depending on other results. Puerto Rico can finish anywhere between 2nd and 6th this season.

Fort Lauderdale
The Strikers clinched a playoff spot this past Saturday with a tie against the Islanders. Fort Lauderdale can finish anywhere between 2nd and 6th this season.

Minnesota
The Stars clinched the final playoff berth with a 4-0 victory against Puerto Rico on Tuesday. Minnesota can finish anywhere between 2nd and 6th this season.

Carolina
The RailHawks clinched a spot in the playoffs this past weekend as Atlanta and Edmonton both failed to win their matches. Carolina can finish anywhere between 2nd and 6th this season.

Edmonton
The Eddies were eliminated from the playoffs following Minnesota’s win over Puerto Rico. Edmonton can finish in 7th or 8th place.

Atlanta
The Silverbacks were eliminated from the playoffs following Minnesota’s win over Puerto Rico. Atlanta can finish in 7th or 8th place.
