The Puerto Rico Islanders announced today the transfer of Guyana international midfielder Christopher Nurse between the Islanders and the Carolina Railhawks . As per team policy, terms of the contract were not disclosed.
“I am delighted to announce the signing of our former player Chris Nurse. Chris brings invaluable experience and competition to my midfield, he is a winner and wants to win more championships with us as he helped us to our championship in 2010,” said Adrian Whitbread.
Nurse returns to Puerto Rico after playing an integral part of the 2010 USSF Division 2 Championship team. The British-born midfielder started his soccer career playing for Kingstoian FC. He later played for the British sides of Aldershot Town, Moor Green, Hinckley United, Tamworth, Stevenage Borough and Halesowen Town. In 2009, he signed with the Rochester Rhinos where he helped the club reach the USL quarter finals. Afterwards, Nurse signed with AFC Telford United appearing in over 10 matches. After winning a championship with the Islanders in 2010, Nurse has spent the last two seasons with the Carolina RailHawks.
