Match Preview: Tampa Bay vs. San Antonio
Rowdies Host Scorpions on Saturday
Posted on Fri, Jun 22, 2012

The Tampa Bay Rowdies return home to kickoff against the San Antonio Scorpions at Al Lang Stadium in St. Petersburg, Florida for the third meeting between the sides this season. In the two previous encounters, the Rowdies are yet to take a single point.

Last weekend in Minnesota, the Rowdies defeated the Stars to pick up three points for the first time during a three-match road trip that included losses in Fort Lauderdale and Puerto Rico. The Scorpions match is the start of a three-game home stand for the Rowdies who have lost just once at home this season.

Fresh off their victory against the Puerto Rico Islanders, the San Antonio Scorpions ride into town as the new league-leaders. In addition to their place atop the standings, the Scorpions are the most in-form team in the league at the moment, riding a nine-game unbeaten streak heading into this match.

The last time the teams met was the first two weeks in May, with a home and away game against each other. San Antonio won both meetings, first winning 2-0 in front of a home crowd, before inflicting the Rowdies only home loss of the season, leaving St. Petersburg with a 2-1 win.
