Scorpions Host Islanders Sunday in Home Debut

The first ever NASL home game for the San Antonio Scorpions FC takes place Sunday versus the reigning CFU Caribbean Champions, the Puerto Rico Islanders.  The Scorpions drew their opening match versus Atlanta while Puerto Rico defeated Tampa Bay 1-0 on Nicholas Addlery goal.

·     The Scorpions recorded a 0-0 draw in their first ever NASL game in Atlanta.

·     Hans Denissen, a longtime veteran of the Dutch Professional leagues had two shots on target last week for San Antonio.

·     Scorpions D Ryan Cochrane was a starter for the Houston Dynamo in two MLS Cup Finals (2006 & 2007). Cochrane anchored the defense in both Dynamo triumphs.

Puerto Rico

 

 ·      Islanders GK Richard Martin made three saves in the final 15 minutes in last Saturday’s 1-0 victory over Tampa Bay.

·      F Jarad Van Schaik hit the post twice and recorded an assist last Saturday versus Tampa Bay.

·      Islanders D Jaime Cunningham received a red card versus Tampa Bay and is suspended for this match.
