After impressing during an open tryout, Lance Laing signed with the Fort Lauderdale Strikers on February 23, 2011. He made his Strikers’ debut in a game against the Puerto Rico Islanders on April 29th, playing 66 minutes at left back. He was named to the 2011 NASL Best XI alongside teammate Toni Ståhl after a spectacular debut season. In 2012 Laing spent preseason on trial with the Columbus Crew and Real Salt Lake of Major League Soccer in hopes of securing a contract. Laing scored a stunning freekick upon returning to Fort Lauderdale in a preseason friendly against Old Dominion University. He switched from the number 6 to the number 16 jersey for the 2012 season.

Laing continued as the first choice left back for the Strikers in 2012. He picked up his first assist of the season on April 25th with a cross that was headed in by Aly Hassan. Laing scored his first goal of the season on May 2nd against the Carolina RailHawks on a direct free kick from 25 yards out.

International: Between 2004 and 2005, Laing played for the Jamaican U-17 national team. He earned his first call to the full national team in 2008, and made his debut in an International friendly against El Salvador, a 0-0 draw, in July of the same year.

In May of 2012, Laing earned a recall to the Jamaican national team as they prepare to qualify for the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil. Laing will be with the squad for three international friendly games against Guyana (May 18) and Panama (May 27 and June 1).
