Born in Guinea, Boakai moved to Edmonton when he was 7-years-old. First playing community soccer in the city, he quickly moved up to play with the U-10 Ital-Canadian's soccer club. There, the EMSA club team Xtreme FC noticed the young talent and moved to put him on their U-14 side. He received a call up from the Alberta Soccer Association in his second year with the club, but didn't make it past the try-outs. However, he made the team year after and has played with the ASA for the past two years. When he was 15, Boakai was scouted for the Vancouver Whitecaps U-16 squad - but ended up back in Edmonton after a trial. He enrolled in the O'Leary Soccer Academy program and continued to play with Xtreme FC upon his return. It was from there that Boakai was noticed to try-out for the FC Edmonton Reserve program in 2011. Boakai received his first international call-up when he began with the FC Edmonton Reserve side for the Canadian U-15 side. Since then, he's earned 6 other national team call-ups for the U-17 Canadian projects. |
