Mike Ambersley, a St. Louis native, previously played for A.C. St. Louis during the 2010 season in the USSF D-2 Pro League.

While with St. Louis, Ambersley received top honors, including USSF D-2 Player of the Month in July and A.C. St. Louis Offensive Player of the Year. Ambersley ended the 2010 season ranked sixth in USSF D-2 for goals scored with 11.  Ambersley began his soccer career at Indiana University where he played from 2001 to 2005.  Ambersley was named Big Ten Conference Freshman of the Year in 2001 and Team MVP in 2005, as well as being named to the Soccer America All-Freshmen team. He was also a key part of the 2002 and 2003 NCAA Division I National Championships, which Indiana won both years. During his college tenure, Ambersley was part of the United States U-20 National Team and Chicago Fire Premier in USL PDL.

Ambersley was drafted in 2006 by FC Dallas in the fourth round and later joined the Rochester Rhinos for the 2006 and 2007 seasons, playing in 32 matches total, scoring two goals and one assist. He re-joined the Rhinos in 2009, after sitting out the 2008 season with the Atlanta Silverbacks due to injury.

Started 27 regular season and 4 postseason games in 2012... Led Rowdies with 25 points and three game-winners this season… Nine assist, first on team and tied for first in the NASL in regular season with eight...Second on the team with eight goals…Scored in the first and second leg of the NASL Semifinal playoff matches against Carolina (10/6 & 10/13)... Had an assist in the second leg of the NASL Championship Series against Minnesota (10/27)... Scored in win at Edmonton (9/16)... Had at least one point in seven straight games (3G, 6A) from June 30-August 4... Played in 2,426 minutes, second in the NASL... Scored game-winner at Atlanta (5/19)... Also scored on penalty kick vs. Ft. Lauderdale (4/28)... Scored vs. Minnesota (6/30)... Had goal and assist vs. Ft. Lauderdale (7/4)... Assist vs. Ft. Lauderdale (7/4), at Minnesota (7/12) and at FC Edmonton (7/15)... Goal and assist vs. Puerto Rico (7/21)... Assist on Daniel Antoniuk's game-winner against FC Edmonton (7/28)... Named to NASL Best XI... Ranked tied for third in NASL with team-high 11 goals in 2011… Third in the NASL and first on the team with seven assists this season... NASL Player of the Month for August... Played in 27 games with 25 starts for 2,275 minutes, most on the team… Scored game-tying goal against Atlanta (4/30)… Added goal on a penalty shot vs. Montreal (5/21) and against Carolina (6/4)… Named NASL Offensive Player of the Week following season-high two goals against Atlanta (6/12)... Scored at Ft. Lauderdale (6/29), vs. Ft. Lauderdale (7/4), at FC Edmonton (7/17), at Atlanta (8/6), vs. Puerto Rico (8/20) and at Fort Lauderdale (8/27)...
