Point Mallard Fields
From Huntsville:
Take I-565 from Huntsville. Go past Interstate 65. I-565 becomes Highway 20 and then
merges with Highway 31 just before you cross the Tennessee River. You will cross over the
River Bridge. Turn left at the second traffic light onto Church Street (at Bud's
convenience store). Follow Church Street all the way to the end of the road (almost two
miles). You will pass some soccer fields and the Point Mallard Golf Course. Turn right at
the three way stop. Do not go into the Point Mallard Campgrounds. Follow Point Mallard
Drive into the Point Mallard Aquatic area. Go past the baseball fields (on
the left) and the waterslides and wave pool (on the right). At the far end of the park
there are lots of soccer fields on the left next to the Point Mallard Stage area.
There are ten tall stadium light poles to identify the soccer fields. New
irrigation and sod are being installed in 2001/2002.

Directions to Point Mallard from Birmingham:
Go up I-65 to the Highway 67 exit. You will exit to the right off of the
interstate, go to the bottom of the ramp and turn left (going back under the
I-65 overpass). Go about 6 miles and turn right on Highway 31 (also known as
Sixth Avenue). The Lynn Layton Chevrolet car dealership is on the corner of
Highways 67 and 31. After you turn right go will go about two miles to a
McDonald's Hamburgers. It is on the corner of Highway 31 and 8th Street SE.
Turn right on 8th Street. Follow 8th Street as far as you can go until you
pass the golf course and a soccer field on your left. At the next intersection
turn right. If you go straight by mistake you will be in the Point Mallard
Campgrounds. Follow that road as far as you can go (about a mile). It makes a
huge sweeping curve through the whole Point Mallard Complex. After you pass
the baseball fields (on left) and Aquatic Center (on your right) the soccer
complex will be on your left. Look for the tall stadium type lights.
American
Legion Soccer Field at Wilson Morgan Park
Take I-565 from Huntsville. Go past Interstate 65. I-565 becomes Highway 20 and then
merges with Highway 31 just before you cross the Tennessee River. You will cross over the
River Bridge. Stay on Highway 31. Go approximately two miles. Turn right on Beltline Road
(aka Highway 67). Go over the overpass and Adventure Park playground and Wilson Morgan
Park will be on your right. Turn right into the park. Go to the rear of the parking area.
The soccer field is located behind the tennis courts and batting cages on the edge of the
lake.
Leon Sheffield
Take I-565 from Huntsville. Go past Interstate 65. I-565 becomes Highway 20 and then
merges with Highway 31 just before you cross the Tennessee River. You will cross over the
River Bridge. Turn right on Highway 20 as soon as you cross the River at the
Holiday Inn. Go approximately one mile and the Leon Sheffield School
will be on your left. The field is located next to the school and is
visible from Highway 20.
Cedar Ridge Middle School
From Huntsville take I-565 towards Decatur. Turn South on Interstate
I-65. Cross over the Tennessee River. Turn right on Highway 67 and go about
five miles into Decatur. Stay on Highway 67 and cross over Highway
31. Highway 67 becomes the Beltline Road. Follow it about
three more miles until you get to Danville Road. The Mall is on the left and
McDonald's Hamburgers is on your right. Turn left on Danville
Road. Go six or seven blocks to Modaus Road and turn right.
Cedar Ridge Middle School is on the corner of Danville Road and Modaus Road.
Turn left into the parking lot. The soccer field is at the rear of
the school between two baseball fields. It is a very narrow field - only
about 42 yards wide by my estimation.
Wolverine
Park
This park is not actually Wolverine
Park but rather the area in front of the entrance to Wolverine Tube's
Tennessee River Boat Dock and Park. The land actually belongs to the Point
Mallard Park. It is located on 8th Street SE just before you get to the
golf course.
Take I-565 from Huntsville. Go past Interstate 65. I-565 becomes Highway 20 and then
merges with Highway 31 just before you cross the Tennessee River. You will cross over the
River Bridge. Turn left at the second traffic light onto Church Street (at Bud's
convenience store). Follow Church Street around until you see the soccer
field on the left (about 2 miles). If you get to the Point Mallard Golf
Course you have gone too far.
New Southwest Park
The new Southwest Park is being
developed and fields should be available for practice in 2002 and for games in
2003. Fifteen soccer/multipurpose fields and several practice fields are
planned for the new complex.
Take I-565 from Huntsville. Go past Interstate 65. I-565 becomes Highway 20 and then
merges with Highway 31 just before you cross the Tennessee River. You will cross over the
River Bridge. Stay on Highway 31. Go approximately two miles. Turn right on Beltline Road
(aka Highway 67). Go over the overpass and Adventure Park playground and Wilson Morgan
Park will be on your right. Keep going about two miles and turn left on
Danville Road - The Beltline Mall will be on the corner of Danville Road and
the Beltline Road. Go out Danville Road approximately half a mile and
turn right on Modaus Road. The entrance to the new park will be about a
mile on your right. If you get to Cedar Ridge Golf Course you have gone
too far.

Travel west on I-565 to Decatur. After bridge you will be traveling on 6th Avenue
(Hwy 31 South). Continue to 8th Street (there will be a McDonald's on the left at this

on the right just past intersection of 8th St. and 16th Ave. Parking lot on right and
