The Tampa Bay Rowdies announced the signing of forward Casey Townsend to a one-year contract through the 2014 NASL Season.
"Casey is an impressive striker and will add to the depth of our roster," said General Manager Perry Van Der Beck. "Playing alongside our current forwards, Casey's work rate will complement our attacking game. We look forward to seeing how he contributes toour success."
Townsend (5’11, 161) joins the Rowdies from D.C United where he made nine appearances scoring one goal for the Black-and-Red during the 2013 MLS season. Townsend also spent
time with USL PRO Richmond Kickers where he amassed two goals in four games in 2013.
The Michigan native was picked by Chivas USA as the 5th overall selection of the 2012 MLS SuperDraft. During his rookie season the Forward was involved in 17 matches scoring one goal and two assists.
Townsend is a product of the University of Maryland where he played for three years and became a key player for the Terrapins. Townsend is tied for third all-time goals scored at Maryland with 43. The Forward also has international experience playing for the United States Men’s U18 and U20 teams.
