Carolina RailHawks vs CD Chivas USA
Carolina RailHawks will put their 21-game home unbeaten streak on the line when they host CD Chivas USA of MLS for a third consecutive year at the U.S. Open Cup. Last year, goals from forward Brian Ackley and international midfielders – Cesar Elizondo of Costa Rica and South African Ty Shipalane led the RailHawks to a 3-1 overtime victory at WakeMed Soccer Park on June 12, 2013, securing Carolina a place into the tournament’s quarterfinals.  RailHawks, who have a 6-0-2 Open Cup record since 2011, reached this year’s Fourth Round after tallies from midfielders Nazmi Albadwi and Jun Marques Davidson gave Carolina a 2-0 win over visiting Charlotte Eagles of USL PRO last month.

Scouting Report On NASL Opponent
Founded in 2004, CD Chivas USA entered MLS the following year and were a subsidiary of the Mexican club CD Guadalajara until early 2014, when it was purchased by MLS.  Currently under the helm of coach Wilmer Cabrera, Chivas USA is ninth in the MLS Western Conference with a 2-5-7 record (11 points).  Mexican forward Erick Torres leads Chivas USA’s with nine goals.
