Potential Pairings Determined For 2014 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Semifinals

U.S. Soccer determined the potential semifinal pairings for the 2014 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup as the games at this stage of the tournament will be played on August 12-13 and feature the four winners from this week’s quarterfinals.

The two North American Soccer League (NASL) teams – Atlanta Silverbacks and Carolina RailHawks – are competing in Open Cup Quarterfinal action on Wednesday evening (July 9) against Major League Soccer opposition.

If victorious on Wednesday, the RailHawks will host a semifinal encounter against Philadelphia Union or New England Revolution, while the Silverbacks will travel to either face the Seattle Sounders FC or Portland Timbers.

The NASL teams will move one step closer to winning the oldest cup competition in the country and also qualify as one of the four U.S. representatives to the CONCACAF Champions League.
